Become the buddy everyone wants
Rescue Diver shifts your focus from yourself to the divers around you. You'll learn to recognise stress before it turns into a problem, manage an emergency step by step, and help a diver in trouble. It's challenging, practical and, for many divers, the course that makes them feel truly confident in the water.
Three parts, at your own pace
eLearning – Study the theory online at your own pace: stress and its warning signs, accident management, emergency equipment and how to assist a diver. A short final exam wraps up this part.
Confined water sessions – In a swimming pool in Klang Valley, you'll practise the rescue exercises one at a time with your instructor: helping a tired diver, responding to a panicked diver, bringing an unresponsive diver to the surface and giving rescue breaths in the water.
Open water scenarios – You'll put it all together in realistic rescue scenarios in open water.

Frequently asked questions
Is Rescue Diver physically demanding?
It's more active than earlier courses, with towing, lifting and surface swims. You don't need to be an athlete, but you should be reasonably fit and comfortable in the water. Tell us about any concerns and your instructor will adjust the pace.
Why is the open water trip separate?
So you can do the pool training in Klang Valley at your own pace, then pick the trip date that suits you.
I'm not sure I'm "ready". How do I know?
If you hold Advanced Open Water and feel comfortable on a normal dive, you're ready. The course is built to stretch you safely, with your instructor guiding every exercise.
Will I have to dive in rough conditions?
No. Scenarios are planned in suitable conditions and your instructor controls each one. The aim is to practise realistically, not to put you at risk.
What is EFR and why do I need it?
Emergency First Response teaches first aid and CPR on land. Rescue Diver builds on it with in-water skills, so you need both to handle a real emergency from start to finish.
What do I need to bring?
Your certification card (or eCard), proof of current EFR or equivalent, swimwear, a towel and sunscreen. Scuba gear is provided. [add anything else]
